At JET Dance we offer dance classes for children as young as the age of 2. While you may find that other Calgary dance studios require children to be a bit older, we believe, the sooner children get into dance the better. With our children’s dance classes, kids get a four-year head start in dance with two years of streamlined training. Additionally, dancing in a structured environment at a young age can help with motor skills, socialization skills, and so much more! Creative Movement is a joyful way for children to explore movement through music and dance. Your child will work to develop physical skills, channel energy, stimulate imagination and creativity. Using creative movement, students can simultaneously build motor skills, rhythmic awareness, coordination, and balance in a safe environment.
At JET Dance, our classes are parent-free. This means your child will begin to get used to transitioning away from mom and dad in a safe environment at an earlier age. It provides a chance for your child to be among their peers and follow directions from other adults, which are super important skills to have as your child gets ready to enter school. It also gives parents a little free time to run errands, catch up with friends, or just take a well-deserved break.
Registration for the 2023/2024 Dance Season opens May 1st!
Please note the student dancer should be the required minimum age for Full-Term classes by Oct 1st.

Registration Fees: The $40 Registration fee is paid once per dance season, which runs from July through June. Registration fees are non-refundable, with no exceptions.
Recitals: All dancers registered in our full-term programs agree to participate in our Winter Recital and Year End Recital. Specifics on recital dates and requirements will be included in Recital newsletters.
Costume Fees: A costume rental fee of $50 per class will be charged to your account on September 1st and March 1st for the Winter Recital and Year End recital respectively. Costume fees are non-refundable, with no exceptions.
CREATIVE MOVEMENT
Your child's first introduction to dance! Creative Movement class is dance at its most basic level. In Creative Movement, children will explore shapes, colours, numbers, emotions, dance techniques and more through movement specifically designed to keep your little one engaged.

TAP/JAZZ COMBO
In Tap, we introduce your child to the fun of learning how to create rhythms and sounds with their little feet! Tap teaches us how to use our feet, legs and hips to make different sounds and how we use those sounds to the beat to create a percussive dance.
Jazz is one of the first foundational dance classes for kids we offer in our studio. Students will learn the fundamental technical necessities to be strong dancers when they get bigger! In Jazz, we will learn strength, endurance, Jazz technique, rhythm and style, all in a class dedicated to your child's dance education. In Jazz, kids learn the fun of bringing their unique personalities out through their movement.

BALLET/JAZZ COMBO
As dancers, we know that Ballet is the foundation of all dance. As teachers, we know that Junior Ballet is the foundation of an outstanding technical dancer. In Ballet, students will learn the foundations upon which they will form the rest of their dance education. Students will experience learning precise technical movement to beautiful classical music and how to tell captivating stories with their dancing.

HIP HOP/ACRO COMBO
Hip-Hop dance is a vibrant form of dance that combines a variety of freestyle movements to create a cultural piece of art. With more upbeat music, Hip-Hop dance creates an exciting level of fun and creative expression.
Acro Dance is a combination of Technical Dance and Aerial tricks, and in Acro, we teach students the very basics of how to tumble, base, and fly! In this class, we will teach your child how to make acrobatic movements safely and how to combine their tricks with dance steps to create entertaining dance sequences!

Proper Attire Required for All Dance Classes
